The Partridge Cabin @ Timber Bay

1 Room, 1 Bed. Sleeps 2 (3 w/ futon)

One of the most secluded on the property, we are looking at a spot that just oozes classic Minnesota charm.

The Vibe: First off, you walk in and—bam!—you’re hit with that gorgeous knotty pine interior. That smell? That is the smell of relaxation. It’s got that warm, golden glow that makes even a rainy day feel cozy. It’s not trying to be a modern city condo; it’s authentic, it’s rustic, and it’s exactly what you want when you’re up here in the tall timber.

The Living Space: Check out that living area. It’s the perfect spot to flop down after a day of hiking or fishing. You’ve got the comfortable seating, the big windows letting in that natural light, and—of course—a fireplace. Can you imagine? Pouring a glass of wine, getting a fire crackling, and just listening to the silence of the woods? That is what we call 'Northwoods Therapy.'

The Kitchen & Dining: Now, for the practical stuff—because even on vacation, we gotta eat! The kitchen here is ready for action. You’ve got the full setup to fry up your fresh catch of the day or flip some pancakes for the crew in the morning. And that dining area? It’s right there, keeping everyone connected. No one gets stuck in the kitchen alone; it’s all about the cozy hang-out.

The Outdoors: But the real selling point? Step outside. You’ve got a deck that is just begging for a sunrise coffee or a sunset cocktail. You are nestled right in the trees, with those peek-a-boo views of the lake that remind you exactly where you are—God’s country.

Common Questions

One of the first to rise, built to last.

Cabin 3 is true Timber Bay nobility. Built in 1948, it was one of the very first structures to stake a claim on these shores. And just like its sibling, Cabin 2, it hasn’t budged an inch. It found its home amongst the pines seventy-five years ago and decided to stay put.

But don’t let the vintage birthdate fool you. While the footprint is historic, the experience is thoroughly refreshed.

In the 80s, we determined that while we loved the history, we didn't love 1940s plumbing. We undertook a massive renovation, essentially rebuilding the bathroom from the ground up (and the ground down) to ensure modern reliability. We also added a new deck, because we know the best part of the Northwoods often happens outside the four walls.

In the 90s, we looked up. We installed a skylight to flood the cabin with natural light, balancing the rich, woodsy tones of the interior with the brightness of the Minnesota sky. We also stripped the exterior down to the raw wood—sandblasting away the years to reveal the beautiful grain underneath—and gave it a fresh stain to protect it for the next generation.

With a modernized heating system and a roof built to handle the snow, Cabin 3 is a testament to the idea that the best things don’t get older—they just get better.
