Ely is the gateway to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), which offers a unique variety of area attractions, things to do, and places to eat and drink.
Shopping is abundant. There’s something for everyone, including clothing and sporting goods, arts & crafts, bait & tackle, and outfitting for adventures.
Dining includes casual local offerings with custom bites and brews to meet every appetite. Northern Grounds offers a surprisingly good cocktail and wine selection, the Boathouse Brewpub has great custom pints, and Insula provides a bit of a fancier vibe… just to name a few.
